Fics like My Racing Heart

When Rodney goes to his sister's house for his niece's birthday party, he didn't expect to meet John Sheppard, let alone fall hard for him. Getting John to cross that line from friendship to dating is a tad harder than he'd thought it would be, but Rodney is a master of getting what he wants. Just ask his students. But what turns out to be infinitely harder is coming to terms with the reality of John's career. John's had a rough year, with both personal and professional losses leading to a stall in his racing career and the sudden adoption of his niece and nephew. When he meets Rodney McKay, it seems like something might finally be going right in his life. Trust issues have him playing things close to the vest but he chooses to open up to Rodney and find happiness. The ultimate question, though, is will Rodney be able to handle a relationship with John as well as the unpredictability of NASCAR?
