Fics like The Chameleon and The Magpie

Deep Space Nine but everyone has a dæmon: physical manifestations of a persons inner self that take the form of an animal. Which is a little awkward... if you have a past you need to hide. Or a secret you want to keep... A Bashir and Garak "Re-Wired" story, set a little time after The Wire. The dæmons follow most of the rules from His Dark Materials. One, they can change in childhood but fix as an adult. Two, they can't move very far away from their person. And three, touching another person's dæmon is not usually allowed and done only by close family or lovers.
