Fics like Baiju Noyan: 1260 (Death: 0)

History’s Imperial Mongol commander Baiju (aka Bayçu) Noyan was back-drafted into service as the villain of Resurrection: Ertugrul Season 2. Played brilliantly by actor Barış Bağcı (we’re not worthy!), the Noyan (which was his title, not his name) became such a fan favorite that there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth when he was apparently killed by Ertugrul (the least-ambiguous hero since 1940's Superman). Historians (whom, trust me, you don’t want to cross) remonstrated that the historical Baiju Noyan won battles for decades after the 1230’s(ish)* setting of Season 2 and nothing suggests that he did so as a zombie or a vampire. Rather, Baiju ostensibly survived until at least 1260, when (according to a single account by Rashid al-Din written almost a century later) he was executed by his insecure new boss Hulegu, the first Ilkhan. Hulegu, despite his descent from Genghis Khan, seems like rather small change compared to Ertugrul and some of Baiju's other would-be exterminators. Did Baiju really die in 1260? And if not --- if he ding-dong-ditched Death once again --- why is there no further word of him?
