Fics like A Most Convenient Mate

"Every unbound omega must be registered for bonding by the time they reach 21 years. You are 32 years old Sherlock. You have come to the attention of the Project Committee. I have been informed that you have 3 days to present yourself, or you WILL be found in contempt. You could lose your right of first refusal altogether. Is that what you want? Whatever alpha they set in front of you, without even the token option to say no?” Sherlock never wanted an alpha. He has made it this long without; he has no interest in changing that. Unfortunately things do change and he has 3 days to find an alpha of his own before the choice is made for him. There must be an alpha out there who is capable of letting Sherlock be Sherlock. Right? John needs a pack. Aching and miserable after being sent home from the war due to his injuries, he has no one waiting for him. It's not healthy for an alpha to be alone, but what can he do? He wants a true partnership, not the shallow forced bond the Committee offers. Circumstances throw these two men together, but can they ever be Bondmates in anything more than name?
