His marriage was already dying when the soulmarks came. Still, they were comfortable. They hadn’t moved into separate bedrooms yet when the soulmarks came, but they were thinking about it: Harry kept odd hours for work, Ginny got up damned early for practice, and both of them had nightmares, although Harry’s were, they both agreed, worse. Ginny had mentioned it, tentatively, as something the very old-fashioned pureblood families did, and Harry hadn’t agreed yet because he liked it when he could smell her in his sleep, but he had already known he was going to. And then one night, as he was changing into his pajamas, Ginny had asked, “What the bloody hell is that?!”
