When Spike first hitches a ride on the Bebop, both he and Jet know that he probably won't stay for long. If there is anything that Jet Black knows, it is that people leave. That’s why he has always held on to everything so hard—held on and never let go. But sometimes it doesn’t matter whether you let go or not. Some things are just going to end anyway. And Jet—thirty-six, retired, sick of life in regular society and all too happy, thank you, to spend the rest of his life on the Bebop, whether alone or not—knows better than to try and hold on to this.
