Fics like One Night In December

London, 29th December 1940, 8 pm. The London Blitz reached its nadir with the bombing of the City of London and the area around its most beloved landmark, St. Paul’s Cathedral. John Watson and Sherlock Holmes meet as the flames blaze and roar all around them. But who is that dark-haired young man and why is he risking his life in such a careless manner? This is what Doctor Watson is wondering, as he eventually becomes enmeshed in a mystery that will take him away from his dreary, hopeless life and plunge him into the secret life of wartime London. The characters belong to ACD and the BBC. The story is mine, so please do not post anywhere else without express permission. “But now, since the silence will not rise and surround us, Leaving us wondering about ourselves, looking each to the other, Sketching the gesture that will finish with consummation, We shall not know what meaning was held by that dream.” Memorial for 1940 – John Gould Fletcher
