Fics like A New Beginning

Struggling to escape her past, an ex-marine known only as Mel finds herself lost in a world infested with the walking dead. It isn’t the living corpses that scare her, it’s losing the only person she cares about, the only person who truly knows what she is, the doctor who can cure the dead. Having been separated in Atlanta, Mel searches for Dr. Adam Pearce. In the process she joins a group of survivors camped at a quarry on the outskirts of the city. Mel helps them survive, as is her duty, but soon comes to realize how important they are to her. When all hope seems lost, they are her chance at a new beginning. This is part one of a series. The story continues in "A New Suffering". In progress and currently posting.
