Daryl knocked loudly, barely resisting the urge to shout. His blood was surging uncomfortably through his veins even after hours in the car. Two kids passed behind him, walking towards the communal shower room. They were talking in low voices about the sickness that was spreading on the East coast. It was all over the news by now. Daryl clenched his eyes shut, trying to focus. Trying not to see the limping, silver-haired human monsters he and Rick had had to kill that morning. He wasn’t abandoning his post. He wasn’t. He’d get back to the station, back to Atlanta, as soon as he knew Paul was safe.
