Fics like Waiting at the Gate

Bilbo catches Fili talking to himself. Bofur tells Bilbo a story about how Fili's late younger brother haunts Thorin's family. They say the dead Kili still whispers Fili's ear from the realm of death, protecting his brother from sickness and goblin arrows but leaving Fili's life plagued by rumours of madness. And then Bilbo puts on the ring and learns that like all the scariest stories it is, of course, entirely true.
